In the second edition of the Flores del Café Competition, organized by Anacafé in collaboration with the Association of Women in Coffee Guatemala (IWCA Guatemala), our women coffee growers showcased their dedication and excellence by achieving top positions in multiple categories. This event, held on April 24, 2024, not only rewards the quality of the best Guatemalan coffees produced by women but also opens doors to specialized markets, thus encouraging growth and competitiveness in the sector.
Since its first edition, the Flores del Café Competition has been an invaluable platform to recognize the hard work of women producers, who each year raise the quality of their crops. This year, participants were awarded in three categories: Washed, Honeys, and Naturals, reflecting the diversity and richness of Guatemala's coffee profiles. The coffees from each region captivate with intense aromas, bright acidity, balanced body, and refined sweetness that capture the essence of Guatemalan coffee.
As part of the awards, an additional cupping session was held with international buyers interested in purchasing the winning coffees—a unique opportunity for our women coffee growers to access new markets and strengthen their commercial networks. This competition is part of Anacafé’s strategies to identify and recognize the quality of Guatemalan coffee, a mission it has driven since the 2023-2024 harvest to encourage innovation and consistency in national coffee production.
We celebrate and congratulate our IWCA Guatemala members for their dedication, effort, and commitment, qualities that have led them to succeed in this competition. We extend our gratitude to Anacafé for continuing to promote the talent of our women coffee growers and to each woman who works daily to position Guatemalan coffee in the world’s most demanding markets!
